A 97-year-old woman in Nepal has amazed people all over the world after she was saved from scary floodwaters. Heavy rains poured down across the country, causing rivers to overflow and mud to slide down the hills.
Many houses were filled with water and mud in just a few hours. People had to run for their lives, but this elderly grandmother was trapped inside her home as the dirty water kept rising fast around her.
The incident happened when continuous monsoon rains hit different parts of Nepal, including regions around Kathmandu and nearby towns. The heavy rain turned small roads into fast moving rivers.
The rush of water carried away cars, broke down bridges, and pushed heavy mud into people’s living rooms. Many older people could not move fast enough to reach higher places on their own. Another helper from the rescue team added, “Carrying someone so old through deep mud is very hard, but seeing her calm face gave us the strength to bring her out safely.”

The reason these terrible floods happened was because of sudden heavy monsoon rain falling for days without stopping. The ground could not soak up all the extra water, so the river walls broke open. Water flooded whole villages and buried streets under wet dirt.
Reports from international news outlets confirmed that many people lost their homes, roads were cut off, and emergency workers had to use boats and helicopters to save trapped citizens.
After the woman was brought out of the flooded building, workers wrapped her in clean, warm blankets to protect her from the cold weather.
They checked her body right away to make sure she was not hurt or sick. Family members wept with joy when they saw her coming out of the flooded zone alive.
A happy relative told news reporters, “We were so afraid because she is very old and cannot run. Seeing her saved from that deep water is a big miracle for our whole family.”
