“Plateau APC Primary Ends in Shock as Mutfwang Sweeps Over 233,000 Votes”

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has firmly stamped his authority on Plateau politics after recording a massive victory in the APC governorship primary ahead of the 2027 elections.

The governor polled an overwhelming 233,335 votes, leaving his challenger, retired Commodore Yilcini Bida, far behind with only 3,070 votes.

What many expected to be a competitive primary quickly turned into a one-sided contest as results from different local government areas continued to favour Mutfwang heavily.

The atmosphere at the venue changed immediately after the final figures were announced. Supporters burst into celebration, chanting songs, dancing and embracing one another as the governor’s victory became official.

For many party faithful, the outcome was not surprising. Mutfwang has continued to build strong political influence across Plateau, and many delegates openly backed him before the exercise even began.

Some APC members described the result as proof that the governor still enjoys massive support within the party structure and among grassroots politicians in the state.

“This victory shows where the party stands,” one supporter said while celebrating with other loyalists.

Political observers also believe the wide margin may weaken opposition within the APC ahead of the main governorship election. Winning by over 230,000 votes has already sent a strong signal to rivals both inside and outside the party.

With the APC primary now concluded, attention is expected to shift toward the 2027 governorship race, where opposition parties will now begin strategising on how to challenge Mutfwang’s growing political strength in Plateau State.
