Comedian Broda Shaggi broke his silence on how he survived a stray bullet that hit his hip during a video shoot in Ogun State.
Popular Nigerian comedian, actor, and content creator Samuel Animashaun Perry, who is widely known by his stage name Broda Shaggi, has finally broken his long silence to open up about how he narrowly escaped death after being hit by a stray bullet in Ogun State.
The famous entertainer shared the terrifying near-death experience in a detailed video uploaded to his official YouTube channel, explaining that the life-threatening incident happened while he was returning from a work location near the Sango-Ota Bridge on March 9, 2026.
The unexpected shooting left him severely injured, forcing him away from social media and video production for several months as he traveled across hospitals seeking urgent medical surgeries and physical rehabilitation.
The scary event happened on a Sunday afternoon after the popular comedian and his crew members finished shooting a comedy project for a commercial brand in the area.
As they entered their vehicle to drive back home, their car got stuck in heavy traffic caused by a large crowd of people gathering along the road.
Recalling the exact moment the bullet struck his body and how everything around him went totally quiet, Broda Shaggi stated: “We were done with the activation. We were already leaving. In fact, we were on the traffic, but there was traffic because there was a crowd shooting. Suddenly, what I heard was a loud bang and everywhere went silent. I could see people talking, but I couldn’t hear anything. It was total silence in the car. Then I touched my hip and saw blood. That was when I realised I had been hit by a stray bullet.”
Overwhelmed by deep fear as blood rushed out of his hip, the comedian began praying for survival while losing consciousness inside the vehicle.
Describing his fear of dying and his faint memory of being rushed to the nearest medical clinic, Broda Shaggi recalled: “I was totally unconscious till I got to the hospital. So, I didn’t even know how we got to the hospital. But one thing I could remember was me praying till we got to the first hospital where first aid was administered.”
The comedian revealed that the first hospital in Alakuko, Lagos State, gave him emergency first aid treatment but quickly transferred him to a bigger facility in Ikeja because they did not have enough medical equipment to handle the deep gunshot wound.
Expressing the deep fear that gripped his heart as doctors moved him around in the emergency room, Broda Shaggi declared: “I didn’t want to d+e. I just don’t want to d+e.”
During his long recovery period, the entertainer admitted that he suffered heavy emotional pain and fell into sadness because he could no longer stand up to act, dance, or record new comedy skits for his millions of online followers.
Confessing how helpless he felt while lying on his hospital bed, Broda Shaggi added: “I feel very useless. While in the hospital, I could not act, I could not dance, sing or do whatever I loved.”
The comedian revealed that watching his colleagues release new comedy videos on the internet often brought him to tears because he feared he might lose the use of his legs forever and be forgotten by fans.
Sharing his fears about missing his regular work schedule, Broda Shaggi noted: “I couldn’t imagine myself not being able to drop six skits in a month.”
Describing how he cried while watching other performers online, he added: “There were moments where I would see videos of my colleagues. I would laugh, and sometimes I would just start to cry because I wasn’t sure if I would still be able to do all these things they’re doing again.”
His health condition began to improve rapidly after he underwent a successful medical operation and spent weeks doing physical therapy to walk again.
Expressing gratitude to God that the flying bullet did not hit a more sensitive part of his upper body, Broda Shaggi concluded: “It was a stray bullet, and it came this way to my hip. What if it had come this way and hit my head or hit any vital organ?”
Fans and fellow celebrities have flooded his social media pages with prayers and thanksgiving messages celebrating his miraculous recovery.
