Philanthropist King Mitchy claimed Burna Boy has not repaid VeryDarkMan N250 million spent from NGO funds to build schools.
Social media users and fans of Nigerian music have been talking nonstop after popular philanthropist King Mitchy claimed that international Afrobeats star Burna Boy has not paid back famous social media activist Martins Otse, who is widely known as VeryDarkMan or VDM, the N250 million spent to build schools.
The shocking statement was made during an online video streaming session with former Big Brother Naija reality television star Phyna, where King Mitchy opened up about the hidden financial details surrounding the school project.
According to the philanthropist, the activist took money out of his non-governmental organization’s bank account to complete the building work because he believed the famous singer would pay him back as promised, but the singer has not sent the money yet.
The controversy started after news broke online that school buildings were being constructed in Rivers State to help young children get a good education in rural communities.
Social media users had previously celebrated the project, believing that the music star and the activist were working hand in hand to fund and supervise the building work from start to finish.
Sharing what really happened behind the scenes during the live online show with Phyna, King Mitchy explained how the activist spent his foundation money to keep the project moving forward without waiting for delays.
Revealing the details of the financial deal between the two famous figures during the broadcast, King Mitchy stated: “Burna Boy has not paid Verydarkman the 250 million he used in building schools. He withdrew money from his NGO to build the schools, thinking Burna Boy will pay him back, but he Didn’t.”

The statement has caused a lot of arguments on social media, with many fans asking questions about how celebrity donations and charity projects are managed in Nigeria.
Some internet users pointed out that the activist took a big risk by using public donation money meant for his non-governmental organization to fund a project based on a verbal promise.
Others argued that if the music star truly promised to cover the cost of the school building, he should fulfill his word so that the activist can return the money to his foundation account.
Neither Burna Boy nor VeryDarkMan has released an official statement to confirm or deny the new claims made by King Mitchy during the live video session.
Fans are eagerly waiting for both public figures to clarify the true state of the two hundred and fifty million naira school project.
