Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has pledged to build a government that reflects the interests of all Nigerians if elected in 2027.
Speaking after securing his party’s ticket, Obi said the country needs leadership that promotes fairness, accountability, and equal opportunities for every citizen.
He stressed that democracy should not benefit only a few people but must serve the interests of all Nigerians.
The former Anambra State governor noted that many citizens have lost confidence in governance due to economic hardship, insecurity, and growing inequality.
He said restoring trust between the government and the people would be one of his major priorities.
Peter Obi Calls for Inclusive Leadership
Obi explained that national development can only thrive when every group feels represented in government.
According to him, Nigeria’s diversity should be treated as a strength rather than a source of division.
He promised to pursue policies that promote justice, transparency, and broad participation in decision-making.
He also urged political leaders to place the country’s interests above personal ambitions and partisan considerations.
The NDC candidate said his vision is centered on creating a nation where young people can find opportunities, businesses can grow, and citizens can feel secure regardless of where they live.
He added that effective leadership requires listening to the people and responding to their needs with practical solutions.
As political activities ahead of the 2027 general election continue to gather momentum, Obi maintained that Nigeria can overcome its challenges through responsible leadership and stronger democratic institutions.
He reaffirmed his commitment to a fair and inclusive system, expressing confidence that Nigerians are ready for a government that prioritizes unity, development, and good governance.
