Tension in ADC as Youth Wing Alleges Exclusion From Party Decisions

Tensions have continued to rise within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as members of the party’s youth wing voice growing frustration over what they describe as unfair treatment and exclusion from key political activities.

Youth Wing Raises Concerns Over Exclusion

According to the youth leaders, many young and loyal members who have consistently supported the party feel they are now being pushed aside. They alleged that despite their commitment and contributions over time, opportunities to participate in important party decisions and processes are being limited.

The youth wing claimed that the situation has left several aspiring young politicians disappointed, as they believe the party is no longer giving them a fair chance to grow politically. Some of them argue that instead of recognizing long-standing members, preference is allegedly being given to new entrants and influential political figures.

Political Realignments Stir Reactions Within ADC

The concerns come amid ongoing political realignments within the party, following reports that some prominent opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi, have become part of the ADC through a broader coalition arrangement ahead of future elections.

Reports Link Tension to Party Structure Disputes

SaharaReporters had reported that this development sparked criticism from some party stakeholders, who accused certain political actors of trying to take control of the party’s structure for personal or strategic advantage.

Reacting to the situation, members of the youth wing insisted that the ADC was built on years of grassroots effort and sacrifice, and should not become a platform where loyal members are sidelined in favour of political heavyweights who recently joined the fold.

They further explained that their concern is not about political alliances or coalitions in general, but about fairness and inclusion. According to them, every member especially young people who represent the future of the party deserves a voice in how the party is run.

Some of the aggrieved youths also expressed worry that decisions affecting the party are being made without proper consultation with key stakeholders, including youth leaders at different levels. They argued that such practices weaken internal democracy and create division within the party.

The youth wing warned that continued exclusion of young members could lead to deeper dissatisfaction and weaken the party’s support base at the grassroots level. They stressed that political growth within the ADC should be based on fairness, loyalty, and equal opportunity.

Despite the growing concerns, the youth leaders maintained that they remain committed to the party. However, they urged the leadership to address their grievances and ensure that young aspirants are not left behind in the evolving political structure.

Overall, the situation highlights ongoing debates within the ADC about inclusion, leadership control, and how best to balance experience with youthful participation as the party prepares for future political contests.
