Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has reaffirmed his administration’s position on insecurity, declaring that his government will never negotiate with terrorists. Instead, he said the state will continue working closely with security agencies to restore peace and protect residents from persistent attacks.
The Zamfara governor terrorists stance was made clear during his visit to communities affected by recent violence. Speaking with victims and community leaders, Lawal assured residents that his administration remains committed to ending banditry and creating a safer environment for everyone.
According to the governor, previous negotiations with armed groups failed to deliver lasting peace. He argued that such agreements often gave criminals time to regroup and launch fresh attacks. For that reason, his government has ruled out any form of dialogue with terrorist groups.
Security Remains the Top Priority
Lawal stressed that protecting lives and property remains the highest priority of his administration. He said the state government will continue supporting security agencies with the resources they need to confront criminal elements operating in different parts of Zamfara.
He also praised the efforts of security personnel, acknowledging the sacrifices they have made in the fight against banditry. However, he noted that more work still lies ahead before lasting peace can be achieved.
The governor explained that tackling insecurity requires determination, cooperation and consistency. He urged residents to support security agencies by providing useful information that could help prevent attacks and arrest those responsible for the violence.
Victims Receive Government Assurance
During the visit, Lawal sympathised with families who lost loved ones and property during the recent attacks. He described the incidents as heartbreaking and assured victims that they had not been abandoned.
He promised that the government would continue providing assistance to affected communities while working to improve security across the state. According to him, every displaced resident deserves the opportunity to return home without fear.
The governor also encouraged citizens to remain united despite the challenges. He said cooperation between local communities, traditional rulers and security agencies is essential to defeating terrorist groups.
Zamfara Governor Rejects Terrorist Negotiations
