Former Cross River State Governor and Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, presidential candidate Donald Duke has warned that Nigeria is on a dangerous path, saying the country needs urgent action to avoid a deeper crisis before the 2027 general election.
According to Daily Post, the Donald Duke 2027 Nigeria disaster warning came during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time.
Duke explained that the country’s current situation pushed him back into active politics. He said he could not remain a spectator while Nigeria continues to face mounting challenges.
According to him, disaster is looming unless the country’s direction changes. He stressed that urgent intervention is necessary to prevent Nigeria from slipping into a more difficult situation over the coming years.
The former Cross River governor also said many of those leading the country today belong to the same political generation as him. However, he argued that the present leadership has failed to tackle Nigeria’s most pressing problems.
“You could remain a spectator and analyse events, or you could become involved,” Duke said.
He added that the country’s current direction demands immediate attention. He said the Donald Duke 2027 Nigeria disaster concerns should encourage leaders to act without delay.
Meanwhile, he pointed out that he is not a member of the ruling party. As a result, he said he naturally belongs to the opposition.
Duke also called on opposition parties to put aside their differences and work together. He maintained that a united opposition would be in a stronger position to offer Nigerians an alternative ahead of the 2027 election.
In addition, he urged political leaders to focus on changing the country’s trajectory rather than allowing the current challenges to worsen. He insisted that Nigeria still has an opportunity to reverse its course if decisive steps are taken now.
Donald Duke concluded that the country requires urgent intervention to prevent what he described as a looming disaster. He expressed hope that collective political action could help place Nigeria on a better path before the 2027 polls.
