France and Saudi Arabia are investing $6.7 billion to build a huge Dragon Ball Z manga theme park near Paris.
France and Saudi Arabia have officially announced a groundbreaking plan to build a massive Japanese manga and anime theme park just outside Paris.
The official announcement was made by the Élysée Palace on Monday, August 24, 2026, following high level diplomatic talks in Paris between French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The massive six billion euro project, worth roughly 6.7 billion US dollars, will be funded by Saudi Arabia’s Qiddiya entertainment group and built in the Val-d’Oise region northwest of Paris, on the former site of the historic Mirapolis park.
The primary reason behind this giant investment is to satisfy Europe’s huge demand for Japanese pop culture while boosting local jobs and tourism.
France is already the world’s second-largest market for Japanese manga books and anime shows outside of Japan itself. Inspired heavily by the legendary Dragon Ball Z series, the new destination will feature giant roller coasters, interactive rides, themed hotels, and life-sized anime landmarks.
In addition to giving millions of European anime fans a dedicated entertainment world, government advisers estimate that constructing and running the massive resort will create over twenty two thousand new local jobs.
The idea for the theme park was born out of a shared personal interest between the two world leaders during an earlier diplomatic meeting.

Sharing the backstory behind the decision, Élysée Palace advisers explained how the project originally came together, stating that “the idea came about after French President Emmanuel Macron and Mohammed bin Salman revealed their shared passion for Dragon Ball Z during the French president’s visit to Saudi Arabia in 2025”.
Reassuring local communities about the huge economic benefits for the surrounding area, French government representatives added that “the project will be located northwest of Paris, and is expected to create around 22,000 jobs”.
Reports from international media outlets shows that the park forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader plan to invest in global entertainment and reduce its economic reliance on oil revenue.
Construction is expected to take several years, turning an abandoned former park site into one of the largest amusement destinations in Europe.
