2027 Election: Agbedi Says Jonathan Could Lead PDP Back to Power

2027 Election: Agbedi Says Jonathan Could Lead PDP Back to Power

House of Representatives Minority Leader Fred Agbedi has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will return to power in 2027 if former President Goodluck Jonathan decides to contest the presidential election.

According to daily post,Agbedi shared his position while speaking on the PDP’s search for its presidential candidate ahead of the next general election. According to him, Jonathan remains one of the few politicians with nationwide acceptance and the experience needed to unite the opposition.

The lawmaker said many Nigerians still remember Jonathan’s time in office. As a result, he argued that the PDP would enjoy stronger public support if the former president accepts the party’s call to run.

However, Agbedi believes it is too early for Jonathan to publicly declare his ambition. He explained that the PDP still has internal consultations and other processes to complete before presenting its preferred candidate.

In addition, he dismissed claims that the former president must immediately reveal his plans. Instead, he urged party members and supporters to allow the leadership to complete its internal process before making any official announcement.

Meanwhile, Goodluck Jonathan 2027 remains one of the biggest talking points within the PDP. Several party stakeholders and support groups have repeatedly encouraged the former president to enter the race. Even so, Jonathan has not made any formal declaration about contesting the election.

Agbedi also insisted that Jonathan’s entry into the race could reshape Nigeria’s political landscape. He said the former president has the ability to unite different interests within the PDP while attracting support from voters across the country.

Political observers believe the PDP is carefully weighing its options before settling on a candidate. Consequently, Jonathan’s name continues to feature prominently in discussions about the party’s strategy for the next election.

Although Jonathan has remained silent, discussions surrounding Goodluck Jonathan 2027 continue to dominate political conversations. Many supporters believe his experience, leadership record, and nationwide appeal could strengthen the PDP’s chances in the 2027 election.
