President Tinubu Praises Rescue of 15 Kidnapped NYSC Members and 6 Others in Kogi

President Bola Tinubu commended security teams after 21 abductees, including 15 NYSC corps members, were safely rescued in Kogi State.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed great joy and praised Nigerian security agencies following the successful rescue of 21 kidnapped citizens.

The rescued group includes fifteen young graduates serving under the National Youth Service Corps alongside 6  other innocent travelers.

The good news came on Monday afternoon, August 31, 2026, after joint security forces tracked down the criminals deep inside the thick forests of Ofu Local Government Area in Kogi State.

The main reason for this major military operation was a scary attack that happened last week when armed bad guys stopped a bus in Kogi State and dragged 21 innocent people into the bush.

The victims, made up of 8 men and thirteen women, were kept in a hidden camp while the kidnappers demanded ransom money.

However, President Tinubu gave strict orders to soldiers, police officers, officers from the Department of State Services, and local vigilantes to work together, hunt down the criminals, and bring every single victim home safely without paying ransom money.

The joint security team surrounded the forest hideout and forced the kidnappers to run away, freeing all twenty-one people unharmed.

The rescued youth corps members and other citizens were immediately taken to a medical center where doctors are checking their health before sending them home to reunite with their joyful families.

Meanwhile, armed soldiers and police officers are still chasing the runaway kidnappers in the bush to catch them and bring them to court.

Releasing an official statement to celebrate the successful operation, President Bola Tinubu praised the bravery of the officers while sending strong warnings to criminals across the country.

Expressing his happiness over the successful mission, President Bola Tinubu stated that I am delighted to receive the news that the 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps and 6other innocent and law abiding Nigerians abducted last week in Kogi State by some criminal elements have regained their freedom”.

Sending a clear warning to all bad actors, President Bola Tinubu added that “those responsible will face the full weight of the law, and our security agencies will pursue everyone who aided this crime. My administration remains committed to ensuring that every Nigerian can travel across our country without fear”. All 21 rescued citizens are doing well and receiving proper medical care.
