Umahi Says God Will Keep Tinubu in Power Until 2031

Minister of Works David Umahi has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will remain in office until 2031, saying he believes God has ordained the Nigerian leader to complete two terms.

Umahi made the remark while addressing supporters, where he defended the Tinubu administration and urged Nigerians to remain hopeful despite the country’s economic and security challenges. The minister insisted that the president still has time to deliver on his promises and should be given the support needed to continue his reforms.

Umahi Expresses Confidence in Tinubu’s Leadership

Speaking during the event, Umahi said God will keep Tinubu in power until 2031 because leadership ultimately comes from God.

According to him, those already focusing on replacing the president should instead support the current administration as it works to address the nation’s challenges.

The minister argued that Tinubu inherited several long-standing problems, including economic difficulties and insecurity. He maintained that solving those issues requires time, patience and consistent policies rather than constant criticism.

Umahi also praised the president’s leadership style, describing him as a determined leader committed to improving the country’s infrastructure and strengthening the economy.

Minister Urges Nigerians to Support the Government

Umahi appealed to Nigerians to rally behind the president instead of discouraging his efforts. He said every administration faces challenges and stressed that meaningful reforms do not produce instant results.

According to the minister, several road and infrastructure projects are already progressing across different parts of the country under Tinubu’s administration. He expressed optimism that the government would continue to deliver more projects before the end of the president’s first term.

He further stated that patience and cooperation from citizens would help the government achieve its development goals faster.

Political Debate Ahead of 2027

Umahi’s comments come as political discussions ahead of the 2027 general election continue to gather pace.

Although President Tinubu has not officially declared his intention to seek another term, several supporters within the ruling party have openly backed the possibility of his re-election.

The minister’s latest statement adds to the growing number of endorsements from political allies who believe the president deserves another four years in office.

However, opposition politicians and critics have continued to question the administration’s handling of the economy, rising cost of living and insecurity. They argue that Nigerians will judge the government’s performance when they head to the polls.

Statement Sparks Reactions

Umahi’s declaration has generated fresh reactions across the political space, with supporters welcoming his expression of confidence in the president.

Others, however, insist that while political leaders are free to express their opinions, the decision on who occupies the presidency ultimately rests with Nigerian voters during a democratic election.

Despite the differing opinions, Umahi remains convinced that Tinubu’s time in office is part of God’s plan. He expressed confidence that the president will continue implementing his policies and remain focused on delivering projects that will benefit Nigerians.

As preparations for the 2027 elections gradually begin, statements from top government officials and political figures are expected to shape public debate in the months ahead. For now, Umahi says God will keep Tinubu in power until 2031, a position that has further fueled conversations about the country’s political future.
