APM Takes Aim at APC in Lagos, Says 2027 Will Be Different

The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, has set its sights on the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State.

 

The party said it is determined to break the APC’s hold on the state and give Lagos residents another option at the polls.  According to Daily Post, the Lagos chapter of the APM made its position clear while speaking about its preparations for the next election.

 

The party is now looking to strengthen its presence across the state as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of 2027.

 

The APM is backing Prince Laja Adeoye as its governorship candidate. His campaign has been built around the “Atunto Eko” agenda, which seeks to address some of the issues affecting residents across Lagos.

 

Adeoye has presented the APM as a party that can offer Lagos voters a different direction. His campaign has focused on issues such as employment, security, infrastructure, healthcare and opportunities for young people.

 

For the party, however, winning Lagos will require more than a strong campaign message. The APM will have to take its message beyond rallies and political meetings and convince voters at the grassroots.

 

The party is therefore working to expand its membership and strengthen its structures in different parts of Lagos. Its attention is expected to remain on wards, local government areas and polling units as the election approaches.

 

This is particularly important in Lagos, where the APC has maintained a strong political presence for years. Any party hoping to defeat it will need a well-organised campaign and enough support across the state.

 

The APM believes the political mood could give it an opening. Many voters, especially younger residents, are looking beyond the usual political choices and demanding better governance and more opportunities.

Still, turning that sentiment into actual votes will be the difficult part. The 2027 election is still some distance away, but the battle for Lagos is already beginning to take shape.

With the APM openly declaring its intention to unseat the APC, the party will now have to prove that it has the structure and support to turn its ambition into reality.
