President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received a fresh warning over documents allegedly held by the United States government.
The warning came from the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele. Ayodele said the possible release of the documents could create serious political problems for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
According to Daily Post, the cleric issued the warning in a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin. Ayodele claimed that powerful interests were working behind the push for the release of the documents.
He also warned that Tinubu could face a major setback if the records eventually become public. The issue has attracted attention because of an ongoing controversy over records allegedly connected to an old investigation involving the President.
Some of the records being discussed have been linked to past allegations involving drug trafficking and financial investigations. However, the existence of an investigation or government records does not, by itself, prove that Tinubu committed a crime.
Ayodele, however, believes the matter could become a serious political challenge for the President. The cleric claimed that Tinubu might not fully understand the weight of the issue. He also accused some people around the President of giving him the wrong advice.
“If those documents come out, it will end Tinubu’s second term because the power behind it is heavy,” Ayodele said.
He further claimed that the United States would release the documents if it decided to do so. According to him, the matter should not be treated lightly because of the possible consequences for the 2027 election.
“If America is ready, they will release it, and that’s why I said America is one of Tinubu’s problems,” he said.
Ayodele also claimed that there were already plans to release the documents. The cleric went further by linking the issue to the wider political atmosphere in Nigeria. He warned that the release could affect the 2027 election and create uncertainty around the country’s political process.
“If this document comes out, an interim government is imminent, and there will be a serious effect on the election,” he added.
The warning comes as political activities begin to gather pace ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Tinubu is expected to seek another term in office. At the same time, opposition politicians are already making moves to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress at the polls.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has also been involved in calls for greater disclosure of records linked to the controversy. The issue has therefore moved beyond a legal debate and into Nigeria’s political conversation. Ayodele had previously warned about possible pressure from the United States on Tinubu.
In July, he reportedly made a similar claim in the 32nd edition of his annual prophecy publication, Warnings to the Nations. At the time, he said he foresaw pressure from the US government and claimed that documents could be used against Tinubu.
He also predicted that the situation could create difficulties for the President as the 2027 election approaches. For now, Ayodele’s latest warning remains a prediction and political commentary. There is no confirmation that the United States will release documents that would prevent Tinubu from seeking another term.
The political impact of the issue will depend largely on what records, if any, are released and what they contain. With the 2027 election drawing closer, however, the controversy is likely to remain part of the political debate surrounding Tinubu and his second-term ambition.
