Controversial singer Speed Darlington slammed Ecobank in a video, threatening to move his funds over a lack of interest on his savings account.

Nigerian singer and social media personality Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington or Akpi, has launched an angry attack against the commercial banking institution Ecobank Nigeria, threatening to clear out his account balances and transfer his funds to another financial institution.

The musician made his frustration known in a video message posted across his official social media channels, where he accused the bank of refusing to pay interest on his savings deposit.

The viral video clip quickly caught wide online attention, drawing reactions from bank customers, entertainment followers, and financial observers across Nigerian digital platforms.

The controversy began after the musician checked his bank account balance expecting to see accrued interest payments on a major deposit he kept in the financial institution.

Expressing his annoyance over how his money was being managed without extra returns, Speed Darlington declared during the video recording: “Eco Bank is trash, and I don’t like to get leaked all at once.”

The singer explained that keeping a huge sum of money in a standard savings account should naturally generate extra income for the account holder over time.

Comparing standard banking expectations with his personal experience over the past month, Speed Darlington added: “All the funds wey I put for Eco Bank is not making me any interest. Normally, when you put 1 million for account, the account is supposed to yield interest.”

Fuming over the total lack of expected earnings on his funds, the artist revealed that he had waited for weeks without seeing any extra returns added to his principal balance.

Complaining about the situation, Speed Darlington stated: “Over 1 month now, I never see any interest from Eco Bank.”

Determined to stop doing business with the bank, the musician openly asked his millions of followers on social media to recommend better financial organizations that reward customer loyalty with high interest rates.

Seeking suggestions from his fans on where to move his funds, Speed Darlington asked: “Which other bank should I transfer my money to? That values me and my money by giving me lots of interest payments on my savings account? Uhm? Which other bank should I take my money to?”

Concluding his fiery rant against the financial brand, Speed Darlington repeatedly insisted: “Ecobank is trash.”

The musician’s public complaint has raised online conversations regarding central banking regulations on savings interest rates, account maintenance fees, and customer satisfaction across commercial banks in Nigeria.

Social media users continue to share the clip as they debate which commercial bank offers the best returns on savings deposits.
