A man has been accused of repeatedly sexually abusing his 15-year-old daughter in Cross River Community
The suspect, identified as Samson Matthew Ebop (also known as Ecomoc), is in his 40s. The horrific ordeal allegedly began after the teenager returned to live with him in Iwuru Obio Ntan, Biase Local Government Area, following the separation of her parents.
According to local sources, the girl initially fought off her father’s advances but was forced into submission after he threatened her with a knife. She kept the abuse a dark secret for a prolonged period, paralyzed by his threats to kill her if she ever spoke out.
The silence finally broke when the teenager began confiding in neighbors, revealing that her father was responsible for her first sexual experience. Encouraged by a confidant, she took her case to her father’s “age grade,” a traditional community leadership group.
The age grade leader summoned Ebop to the village square to face his daughter and the evidence she had gathered. While he initially denied the allegations, sources say he eventually confessed when confronted with the teenager’s proof and information provided by medical personnel.
The confession sparked immediate fury. Youths in the community reportedly assaulted Ebop before dragging him to the traditional ruler. The village head ordered him back to the square for further questioning before directing the youths to hand him over to the police. Instead, the angry mob took him to soldiers operating in the area, who have since taken up the matter.

The horrifying revelation has also unearthed a darker history. Community members allege that Ebop has previously been linked to cultist groups, repeated thefts, and the sexual assault of elderly women working on local farms.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer for the State Command, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, stated that authorities are actively investigating the alleged crime and promised swift action.
