A court in Minna sentenced 27 year old Hussaini Suleiman to seven years in prison for raping an 8 year old girl.
A High Court sitting in Minna, Niger State, has sentenced a 27 year old man named Hussaini Suleiman to prison for 7 years after he confessed to the bad act of raping a helpless 8 year old girl.
The judge, Justice Binta Bawa, handed down the final sentence on Thursday, September 10, 2026, after the young man stood in the courtroom and admitted that he was guilty of the terrible crime.
Security officers explained that the crime took place right inside the suspect’s house located behind the Prison Quarters in Minna, where he took the little child and abused her.
The main reason why the offender was locked up is to bring justice to the young victim and show everyone in the state that harming small children carries heavy punishment under Nigerian law.
The whole trouble started back in April 2026 when civil defense officers caught the man after worried neighbors reported the matter. The case was then handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, known as NAPTIP, which handles cases of human trafficking and child abuse.
NAPTIP legal officers did a thorough investigation, took the case straight to court, and presented clear evidence that forced the young man to accept his crime without wasting time.

Explaining the details of the court judgment, government protection officers released an official statement to inform the public about the case outcome.
Announcing the court decision through its official social media channel on Friday, September 11, 2026, the anti trafficking agency stated that “Suleiman pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 7 years’ imprisonment”.
Describing how security agencies joined hands to catch the convict, law enforcement officers added that “the case was referred to the Niger State Command of NAPTIP by the state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on April 16, 2026, following a report of the rape of the minor”. The convict has been taken directly from the court to start serving his 7 year term inside the correctional center.
