The senator, who represents the people of Bauchi South in the National Assembly, met with journalists in Bauchi city on Monday, September 14, 2026, to share his decision with the public.
For weeks, different people have been posting videos on social media claiming that the senator works with bad gunmen, sponsors kidnappers, and gives money to dangerous terrorists.
The senator said he decided to take his lawyers and report himself directly to the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) because he wants the total truth to come out.
He said he does not want people to keep talking about security matters on social media like a game, so he wants real security officers to check all the facts.
The main reason why Senator Buba took this big step is to protect his good name and clear his reputation before all Nigerians.
He explained that as a former leader of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, his daily job required him to meet with secret service officers, military leaders, and security chiefs to plan how to catch bad criminals.
He said some political enemies took those secret security meetings and turned the story upside down to make simple people believe he is helping criminals.
To stop all the lies, his legal team, led by a top lawyer, Chief Yakubu Maikyau, wrote official letters to all security offices asking them to start a full investigation immediately.

Speaking to journalists in very clear words, Senator Shehu Buba declared his full innocence and challenged anyone who has proof against him to bring it out.
Denying all connections to bad groups, Senator Buba said, “I categorically and unequivocally deny these allegations. I have never sponsored, financed, armed, facilitated, or supported banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, or any criminal organisation or activities whatsoever.”
Telling people to stop spreading rumors on the internet, the senator stated, “Do not hide behind social media. Do not rely on edited videos, insinuations, propaganda, or anonymous allegations. Take whatever evidence you have to the appropriate security agencies and allow the law to take its course.”
Showing that he is ready to accept whatever the law says after proper investigation, he added, “I have nothing to hide nor fear… I will not ask Nigerians simply to take my word for it. That is precisely why I have submitted myself to the relevant security agencies. Let the professionals investigate.”
He further challenged his accusers by saying, “If there is evidence against me, let it be produced. If there is none, those who have deliberately manufactured and circulated these allegations should equally be held accountable under the law.”
Other news reports from major national papers show that security agencies have already started looking into the matter.
Reports confirm that the DSS has acknowledged that investigations are active and that the outcome will be made public when officers finish their work.
