A 14-year-old student shot six people dead and injured 15 others at a high school outside Bangkok, Thailand.
A heartbreaking tragedy has struck a quiet community after a fourteen-year-old high school student brought a gun to class and opened fire on his classmates and teachers. The shocking shooting incident claimed the lives of six innocent people, including three dedicated teachers and three young students who had just arrived at school for their morning lessons. Fifteen other people were rushed to nearby hospitals with gunshot injuries, with medical doctors reporting that at least two victims remain in critical condition fighting for their lives. Terrified students hid under desks and inside locked classrooms to protect themselves from the gunfire before heavy police forces arrived to secure the school grounds.
The awful attack unfolded inside the grounds of Debsirin Nonthaburi School, located in the Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province, just northwest of Thailand’s capital city of Bangkok. What was meant to be a normal day of learning quickly turned into absolute terror as loud gunshots echoed down the school hallways. Panicked teenagers ran for their lives, while others barricaded doors using heavy wooden desks to prevent the shooter from entering their classrooms.
The deadly rampage occurred on Friday morning, August 7, 2026, as morning classes were just getting underway. Emergency calls flooded police stations shortly after the shooting began, bringing dozens of police cars, ambulances, and rescue teams racing to the campus. A witness inside the school told reporters that students huddled together in silence while hearing shots fired in another building, waiting anxiously until officers knocked on their classroom door and cleared a safe path for them to evacuate the building.

Police officers and government investigators are currently trying to understand why a young boy would commit such a horrific act against his own school. Initial police reports indicate that the fourteen-year-old suspect took a handgun from a family member’s home before heading to school. Providing an official update on the shooting, Royal Thai Police spokesperson Trairong Piwpan confirmed that “three teachers and three students were killed, while the shooter was taken to hospital in serious condition”.
