Activist Omoyele Sowore reveals that a phone stolen during an attack in Ekiti State was tracked to a location near the governor’s office.

Politician Omoyele Sowore has raised a fresh alarm after discovering that a mobile phone stolen from his team during a recent violent incident in Ado-Ekiti was tracked directly to a spot located opposite the Ekiti State Governor’s office.

The latest development has added more tension to the ongoing disagreement between the activist and local authorities regarding who was behind the sudden attack.

The incident started when the activist visited Ado-Ekiti, the capital city of Ekiti State, to feature on a live radio interview program at Midas FM.

Shortly after he finished the radio program and stopped by a local restaurant known as Tawakalitu Restaurant, a group of aggressive thugs allegedly ambushed his team.

During the sudden chaos and physical attack, several personal belongings, including mobile phones belonging to members of his entourage, were forcefully stolen.

Following the attack, electronic tracking devices on one of the stolen mobile phones showed that the device was active and located right across from the official Ekiti State Governor’s lodge and office area.

The activist made the discovery public, demanding immediate explanations from security agencies and government officials as to how a phone stolen from a crime scene ended up inside a high-security zone linked to state power.

the Ekiti State Police Command earlier claimed that its Rapid Response Squad raided a criminal hideout in the Atikankan area and arrested eleven suspects in connection with the violence.

However, police accounts differed sharply from the personal narration given by the activist, who insisted that the assault was politically motivated and planned to silence him.

Demanding full transparency and accountability from the security forces, Omoyele Sowore publicly called on the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services to release all recorded security camera footage from the restaurant where the attack happened.

Pressing for the urgent release of security evidence to prove the truth, Omoyele Sowore stated:

“The @PoliceNG and @OfficialDSSNG must immediately release the CCTV footage from Tawakalitu Restaurant to the public. You cannot bury the evidence.”

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Government quickly released an official statement distancing itself from the attack, denying any form of state involvement in the violence, and calling for an independent and thorough police investigation into the matter.

Government representatives maintained that the state administration has zero tolerance for thrymerism or political violence and urged security agencies to fish out all the real culprits behind the chaos.

As public debate grows across social media and news circles, citizens and civil society groups are calling for an open and unbiased investigation to uncover how the stolen item was traced near the seat of government power.
