Political analyst Sam Amadi has claimed that most party primaries conducted ahead of the 2027 general elections were fraudulent.
Amadi made the allegation while speaking on Arise Television. According to him, many political parties failed to conduct transparent primaries, leaving several aspirants frustrated and disappointed.
He argued that the trend exposes deep problems within Nigeria’s political system and raises questions about the credibility of internal party elections.
Amadi Raises Concerns Over Party Primaries
Speaking during the interview, Amadi said most party primaries were fraudulent because powerful individuals often influenced the outcome.
According to him, many political parties lack strong institutions capable of enforcing internal democracy. As a result, governors and other influential figures frequently decide who emerges as candidates.
He noted that several aspirants who expected a fair contest were sidelined despite meeting the required conditions.
Why the Political Analyst Is Worried
Amadi warned that the situation could weaken public trust in the democratic process.
He explained that when party members lose confidence in primaries, internal crises become inevitable.
Such disputes, he said, often create divisions that affect political parties long before the general election.
The analyst stressed that credible primaries remain a key part of any healthy democracy.
Impact on the 2027 Elections
As preparations for the 2027 elections continue, concerns over internal party democracy are expected to remain a major issue.
Amadi maintained that political parties must strengthen their institutions and ensure fair competition among aspirants.
He added that transparent primaries would help restore confidence in the electoral process and reduce post-primary disputes.
