APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has clarified the purpose of his recent meeting with Senator Rufai Hanga, a close ally of Rabiu Kwankwaso, following widespread speculation over the visit.
Yilwatda explained that the meeting was not linked to any political negotiations or plans to influence Hanga’s political future. Instead, he described it as a routine courtesy visit during which they discussed issues affecting Kano State.
According to the APC chairman, the conversation focused on peace, unity and development. He said leaders should maintain cordial relationships and continue engaging one another despite belonging to different political parties.
However, the visit generated fresh debate because it came amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general election. As a result, some observers suggested that the meeting could signal a possible political realignment.
Yilwatda, however, dismissed such interpretations. Rather, he urged Nigerians not to attach political meaning to every meeting involving public figures. He also declined to comment on Hanga’s political future, insisting that the visit should not be viewed as evidence of a planned defection.
Furthermore, he stressed that regular dialogue among leaders remains important for national progress. He noted that constructive engagement can strengthen democracy, encourage cooperation and promote peaceful coexistence across party lines.
As stated by daily post,Meanwhile, Hanga has not publicly announced any intention to leave his current political platform. His camp has also remained silent despite the speculation surrounding the visit.
