A prominent politician and top leader in the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, has passed away. The sad news was officially announced by his family members on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, following his death on Monday, August 31, 2026.
Chief Orbih, who served as the National Vice Chairman of the PDP for the South South region and led the party in Edo State for many years, died at the age of 64. His sudden death has thrown party members, friends, and political associates across the nation into deep mourning as messages of tribute continue to pour in.
The main reason why Chief Orbih was so well known across Nigeria is his long service as a strong political strategist and outspoken party leader.
He served as the Edo State Chairman of the PDP for a long time, fighting hard during major state elections and keeping the party alive against tough competition.

The late political leader leaves behind his wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih, his daughters, Winifred and Mildred, alongside his siblings and extended family members who are currently preparing for his burial.
Announcing his passing on behalf of the family, Francis Udukhomoi Orbih released an official statement expressing their deep sorrow and acceptance of the outcome.
Sharing the sad update with the public, Francis Udukhomoi Orbih stated that “with profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the Almighty God, the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announce the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, 31 August 2026″.
Asking well wishers to support the grieving family with words of comfort, Francis Udukhomoi Orbih added that “at this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss”.
