The operation began on Monday when officers stopped a vehicle in County Meath as part of an intelligence-led investigation.
The vehicle stop led investigators to carry out a series of follow-up searches at several locations across Meath and neighbouring County Louth.
During those searches, officers recovered suspected cocaine and cannabis with a combined estimated value of €8.5 million, according to a statement from An Garda Síochána.

Police have not released details about the exact quantities of drugs seized or disclosed where the substances were discovered as investigations continue.
Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were arrested during the operation. Both remain in police custody while detectives continue questioning them.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, with officers working to establish the full extent of the suspected drug trafficking operation and whether more arrests could follow.
The latest seizure is one of the largest drug hauls reported in Ireland this year and forms part of ongoing efforts by Irish law enforcement to disrupt organised crime groups involved in the importation and distribution of illegal drugs.
Police have appealed for anyone with information relating to drug trafficking or organised criminal activity to come forward as investigations continue.
