Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf condemned recent bandit attacks in four Kano local government areas and ordered stronger security measures.
The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has strongly condemned the wave of bandit attacks hitting rural communities across 4 local government areas.
The official message was released on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, through a formal statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The state government confirmed that dangerous gunmen recently carried out violent raids in Chiromawa community in Garun Mallam Local Government Area, Beli village in Rogo, several settlements in Bebeji, and border communities around Gwarzo.
The main reason why Governor Yusuf issued this urgent address is to reassure scared residents that the government is taking decisive action to stop the violence and keep every family safe.
The recent attacks created heavy panic among farmers and villagers, especially after criminals killed residents, injured innocent citizens, and kidnapped local leaders.
To prevent further attacks, the governor directed top security commanders to immediately deploy more officers, strengthen secret intelligence gathering, and set up rapid response teams across all vulnerable border communities.
Governor Yusuf also sent deep condolences to families who lost their loved ones, offered prayers for those recovering from injuries, and promised that security teams are working around the clock to rescue all kidnapped citizens safely.

He appealed to residents to stay calm, avoid taking the law into their own hands, and give security officers useful information about hidden criminal camps.
Speaking through his official spokesperson, the governor expressed deep pain over the loss of lives and property caused by the gunmen.
Sharing the governor’s deep concern for affected families, spokesperson Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa stated that “Governor Yusuf expressed sympathy with the victims and families affected by the attacks, describing the incidents as deeply disturbing and unacceptable”.
Reassuring the public that state forces will hunt down the perpetrators, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa added that “the governor assured the communities that the government would take necessary measures, in collaboration with security agencies, to prevent further attacks and restore confidence among residents”.
Police tactical squads and military units have been stationed across Garun Mallam, Rogo, Bebeji, and Gwarzo to protect villages.
