Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reacted to rumours that former President Goodluck Jonathan may contest the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking in Abuja, Obi said he is not bothered about who joins the race. According to him, his main concern is fixing Nigeria’s problems and improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
He said the country needs leaders who will focus on insecurity, the economy, unemployment, and the suffering many Nigerians are currently facing.
Obi also stated that leadership should be about service to the people and not just political competition.
His reaction comes after reports claimed Jonathan could return to active politics ahead of the 2027 elections, although the former president has not officially announced any plan to run.
The reports have continued to stir conversations across the country as political parties begin early moves ahead of the next general election.
