Aliko Dangote’s Net Worth Soars 63% To $51 Billion After Refinery IPO Launch

Aliko Dangote’s total wealth jumped 63 percent to 51.3 billion dollars after his massive refinery opened its share sale to the public.

Africa’s richest businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has experienced a massive increase in his personal wealth after his giant oil refinery opened its doors for the public to buy company shares.

According to international wealth tracking data released on Monday, September 14, 2026, Dangote’s total net worth jumped by 63% to reach $51.3  billion in just one day.

This huge increase added nearly $20 billion to his money bag, moving him up from the 76th position to become the 36th richest human being living on earth.

The main reason why the billionaire’s total money jumped so high is that financial experts recalculated the true market value of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery as soon as official share sales started on the Nigerian Exchange.

Before now, international financial calculators were using the money spent on constructing the factory to measure the business.

But now that members of the public, big banks, and foreign investors are paying 525 Naira for one share to become co-owners, the total calculated value of the factory has jumped to around $50 billion.

Because Dangote personally owns over 90% of the refinery, his personal wealth calculation shot straight up to reflect his huge stake in the company.

Talking about this historic moment and why the share sale is a major step forward, Aliko Dangote shared his excitement about opening the company to everyday investors.

Reflecting on the big launch day and how important it was for his schedule, Dangote noted, “We have D-Day on Monday”.

He added that the company’s long term target is to keep building capacity so that the refinery becomes even bigger, stating that the team works daily to ensure “the good intentions of the government are achieved” and that the refinery delivers strong returns for the country.

Financial news coverage confirms that investors bought one point N5 trillion worth of shares within the first six hours of opening.

Analysts say this huge interest shows that everyday people and foreign funds have strong confidence in the business.
