Officers arrest two women in Lagos for making fake juice in a dirty house with bad well water.
Officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have stopped a big setup that makes bad fruit drinks in Lagos State.
The officers caught two women, aged 48 and 50, inside a house where they were making fake fruit juice without permission.
The factory was making a drink named Barkas Juice under a business name called Titi Alubarika Trading Stores Ltd. The officers discovered that the drink had a fake government approval number from NAFDAC on the bottles.
The place where they were making this drink is located at Talabi Onilegbale Street in Aradagun, an area inside Badagry in Lagos State.
The security officers raided the building on Saturday night, September 19, 2026, around 9:00 p.m. Officers had watched the house quietly for five days after getting reports from good people in the community who noticed strange work going on there.
When the officers entered the compound, they saw very dirty things. They found a dirty water well and an unclean water tank inside the compound.
The workers were drawing water straight from this dirty well to make the juice that people drink. Inside the house, which is also where people live, the officers found rolls of paper stickers, machine parts, chemical powders, big metal drums, gas cylinders, and many cartons of packed juice.
A big heavy motor truck loaded full with the drink was sitting in the compound, ready to carry the goods to markets in Lagos, Edo State, and other parts of Nigeria.
The security officers arrested the two women right inside the house. Speaking on behalf of the Lagos State Civil Defence Chief, Adedotun Keshinro, the spokesman for the corps, Oluwaseun Abolurin, said: “Adulterated fruit drinks are being produced in this factory and supplied to Edo State and other parts of the country. The products were found packed in cartons and also loaded in a truck.”
The spokesman also explained that the drink was made using water, strong sweet chemicals, fake colorings, and dangerous mixing powders without using real fruits at all.
He warned everyone to be very careful about what they buy in the market because drinking such dirty products can damage people’s health and cause bad illnesses like diabetes or organ problems.
He added that the women were even using small children between 15 and 16 years old to work for them in the building.

The main woman arrested at the scene, named Morenikeji Alawiye, spoke about the business. She said the factory was started long ago by her grandmother and had been working for almost 20 years. She said: “The family initially produced bottled and sachet water before the business encountered difficulties.”
She claimed that the government had shut down the place before, but she was trying to get proper papers to make the business legal before the officers came.
She also said she reached out to an uncle working with NAFDAC to help her get government approval and that a family member was preparing to send the juice to customers in another country called The Gambia.
The Civil Defence officers said they had to call soldiers from the Nigerian Army to help them protect the area because some young boys in the community tried to stop them from carrying out the arrest.
The Lagos State Commandant, Adedotun Keshinro, has ordered the place to be locked down completely. He said the two women will be investigated carefully and taken to court so that the law can punish anyone who makes dangerous food and drinks for the public.
