Agency bosses released official details about the painful incident on Thursday, September 10, 2026, to clear the air regarding social media rumors.
The fatal attack took place in a community inside Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State while a team of officers was carrying out a routine operation to clear out illegal drug joints and arrest suspects.
During the confrontation, a violent suspect pulled out a sharp object and inflicted deep knife wounds on the officer, leading to his death despite emergency efforts to save his life.
The main reason why the drug agency spoke out publicly is to give accurate facts about the sad event and stop wrong stories from spreading among community members.
The agency clarified that while the attack was horrific and unacceptable, rumors making the rounds online claiming that a public wanted notice had been officially issued for an unknown person were incorrect.
NDLEA management explained that normal law enforcement channels and police investigators are already tracking down everyone involved in the crime.
