The Osun State Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that suspected bandits were recently arrested in parts of the state.
According to the police, the information being shared online is false and capable of creating unnecessary fear among residents. The command urged members of the public to avoid spreading unverified security reports and to rely on official sources for accurate information.
Osun Police Dismiss Bandit Arrest Claims
The police said intelligence gathering and security assessments carried out across the state did not support the claims being circulated online. Authorities described the reports as misleading and warned that such information could cause panic and disrupt public peace.
Police spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi stated that security agencies have not confirmed any bandit invasion or related arrests linked to the viral reports. He stressed that residents should remain calm and continue their normal activities without fear.
Police Warn Against Spreading False Security Information
The command also warned individuals who deliberately create and share false security alerts that they could face legal consequences.
According to the police, the spread of unverified information undermines public confidence and poses a threat to public safety. Residents were advised to confirm security-related reports through official police channels before sharing them online.
